Appointment fees vary depending on the practitioner that you see but the gap fee is the same, regardless of practitioner.
The fee for an appointment with a clinical psychologist is $178 with a Medicare rebate of $124.50 thus you will incur a $53.50 gap fee.
The fee for an appointment with a general psychologist is $140 with a Medicare rebate of $84.80 thus you will incur a $55.20 gap fee.
A GP can provide a referral under the government Better Access to Mental Health Care initiative that will allow you to claim the rebate from Medicare for up to ten sessions in any one calendar year.
A concession rates is available to concession card holders allowing for a smaller gap fee.
Bulk billing is available to dairy farmers experiencing financial hardship and, may be available on a limited basis by prior negotiation, in other cases of extreme financial hardship.
Some private health funds require a GP referral.
If you want a third party, such as TAC, Workcover or your employer to pay for your session(s), you need to obtain permission from the relevant third party before the appointment or you are asked to pay for the appointment and negotiate your reimbursement by the relevant party.
Unless an arrangement has been made prior to your appointment, payment is expected at the time of the appointment.
Payment may be made by eftpos using a savings or cheque account.
We request that you give notice in the event of needing to cancel an appointment that allows us time to reallocate the appointment to someone on our waiting list
If less than 24 hours’ notice is given a cancellation fee of $35 will be charged
If less than five hours’ notice is given the full fee will be charged for an appointment that is not attended
